Flightbook 2.0 – Beta 4

Well, as title says I have finally finished the beta version for you to try it out. Beta contains 100% of the functionalities I intended version 2.0 to have, I will be adding new ones later but first I want to make sure, to remove as much bugs as possible. Also before I release 2.0, I will change the printing section, because it only works fine with small number of flights.

Since the program was completely rewritten it will contain many bugs, which I intend to remove before I release the final 2.0. Also, it is not possible to export flights from version 1.x, because I don’t want you to start using this program as primary logging software. I will enable this in version 1.12 before the version 2.0 will be released.

This version is meant for testing purposes, so I must ask you to submit your error report with as much data as you can write (anything might come in handy). You can also leave your thoughts here in comments section.

Installation:

To test this version download install file,
Install it
and enjoy sending in the error reports:P.

You don’t need to uninstal the previus version, since they are two different applications to your computer. Also If you uninstall the previus version you might loose all your stored flights.

During the beta versions I will also keep changelog in this post.

Changelog:
2.0 Beta 1 – 2.0 Beta 2:
- Minor changes to translations,
- sixes for .igc files support,
- sending error report fixes.

2.0 Beta 2 – 2.0 Beta 3:
- Button “Delete selected flight” cannot be clicked if no flight is selected,
- Fixed distance calculations for short flights (no more NaN and infinity numbers at avg. speed, also fixes some SQL errors)

2.0 Beta 3 – 2.0 Beta 4:
- minor design fixes,
- fixed problems with importing .IGC files,
- fixed problems with translations update system,
- added missing translations,
- addade progress bar for current processes.

igc to kml conversion in version 2.0

I am still working on the new version. In fact I just finished the part for converting igc files to kml and I am quite happy with results.I have added some pictures below and also attached two sample kml files.

KML conversion now has a lot of options. Like you could before, you can display the track in one solid color. In the new version you also have some cool options so that color changes depending on the: altitude, vario or speed. Also you can display/hide the curtain and ground track.

So, as promised in comment yesterday, here is the video of the work I have done so far. Until the final release some of the features may change or even be removed.

Here are some screenshots of the new version, just to show that something is being done on the project… It’s not that different from the old design but there are some changes.

There is Slovenian language on the screenshots, but since more than 50% of web page viewers are from Slovenia I think it wont be a problem.

Thanks to WordPress I have created new web page for my application. I have decided for this step because I am developing version 2.0 for this application and I think is appropriate to make new web page as well. I know that all the content is from the old web page but I will be adding new screenshots and stuff up here, about new version, constantly.
